SDDP Member Update: Lynn Broadwine

Get the full story of Lynn Boadwine’s remarkable journey in transforming dairy farming in South Dakota. From starting Boadwine Farms in 1989 with just 42 cows to becoming a key pioneer who helped establish the South Dakota Dairy Producers in 2009, Lynn’s contributions have left an indelible mark on the industry. As a fourth-generation dairy farmer, he has tirelessly championed transparency by opening his farm for public tours, highlighting superior cow care, environmental stewardship, and strong family traditions. Notably, his innovative use of modern anaerobic digesters at Boadwine Dairy has not only turned manure into renewable energy but also significantly reduced methane emissions—a move that earned his farm the 2022 U.S. Dairy Sustainability Award.

This article also covers his ongoing leadership roles, including serving on South Dakota’s Animal Industry Board, and recaps the success of a recent regional trade reception that united dairy professionals from across the Midwest.
